crew relationships
Zoro: Luffy has a pretty easy relationship with Zoro. In the early chapters before the rest of the crew joined Luffy and Zoro were pretty good friends. (I’m assuming they still are, they just don’t show them hanging out much anymore). Zoro respects Luffy for how well he fights and is usually there to take on the next toughest person in a fight. Zoro also defends Luffy as his captain. When he was fighting with all the members of the Baroque Works they though he was the captain, but he knew that they wouldn’t last against an alert Luffy. Soon after that Luffy got in a fight with him because he thought he beat up all those people for nothing, but yet Zoro still follows him and isn’t mad at him.

Nami: When they first met Nami just used Luffy to get out of situations and took advantage of him. She just wanted any money she could make out of him then she left. But by this time Luffy cared about her and he followed her. He helped free her town and destroyed the room she had suffered in her whole childhood. After this Nami doesn’t take Luffy for granted anymore and really does care about him. But when Sanji gives her food instead of Luffy then she isn’t sympathetic to him at all.

Usopp: Well Usopp came along with Luffy and crew because he wanted to be a great adventurer. He also wanted to be captain so that caused some problems for a very brief time. Soon after he accepted Luffy as the captain. I think he really respects Luffy but also wants to be a better pirate than him. He has some of the same kind personality as Luffy so they do get along pretty well. When Luffy does something stupid he’s also there doing something stupid.

Sanji: Sanji never wanted to come with Luffy but came because his mentor wanted him to. Being a ladies man Sanji doesn’t pay that much attention to Luffy. Though he is always getting mad at him for eating all their food, or trying to get oranges from the special grove he made for Nami, he really does care about Luffy and respect him. He does not show it very often but he accepts Luffy as his captain and you cannot spend time around Luffy and not care about him.

Chopper: Chopper definately respects Luffy and Luffy respects Chopper’s fighting abilities. Luffy accepts Chopper for who he is and doesn’t care that he’s a reindeer human. Chopper cares a lot about everyone in the crew and will do what he can to help them. I also think he likes to do what Luffy is doing and is usually part of the stupid things that Luffy and Usopp (and sometimes Sanji) are doing. I can’t see Chopper and Luffy ever getting a fight, there’s just nothing for them to fight about.

Robin: Luffy did save Robin’s life even though they were enemies, though I think he would have done that for anyone. On the other hand, Robin cannot forgive Luffy for saving her life. Robin is mainly ver pleasant to Luffy and the others. They seem to amuse her greatly, and she's amazed at the way they act sometimes. I think she is thouroly enjoying being part of the Straw Hat crew, and is gradually gaining respect for all the crew members.
